Nellie MckayNellie is best known as a singer-songwriter, a New York and national cabaret. Her breakthrough album debut, Get Away From Me, garnered adoring attention in the press and national talk shows. In the theater world, she made her name in her role as Polly Peachum in the The ThreePenny Opera, for which she won a Theatre World Award. She has also played key roles in PS I Love You and Downtown Express. Aside from acting, Nellie is behind the music performances in shows such as Grey's Anatomy, Rumor Has It, Weeds, Monster-in-Law, and Querty. This spring, Nellie premiered her latest project, “I Want to Live!” the “brilliant, zany film-noir musical biography” (New York Times) of Barbara Graham, the third woman to die in the gas chamber at San Quentin. The New York Times praised “McKay’s virtually unlimited gifts as a singer, songwriter, actress, pianist, ukulele player, mimic, satirist.” Nellie appeared on the big screen in Downtown Express in 2011, and her most recent album is Home Sweet Mobile Home.
